Motion:
(1) S.B. Woo moves to pass
If by 1/29 or earlier, it becomes clear that Obama will lose anyway, we will not endorse any candidate. We lack the clear rationale to just endorse one of the six who have replied with all yeses.
Jing-Li Yu seconds.
The motion was unanimously approved.
(2) S.B. Woo moves to pass
If it becomes clear that Obama is likely to be competitive on the "Super Tuesday" of Feb. 5 where 22 state primaries will be held, then we need to decide to endorse someone for the CA Dem. primary at the earliest possible time. The candidate we endorse shall be a person who has replied with all yeses, and is in the best position to win CA on "Super Tuesday." We may endorse a different candidate who has the best chance to win in a different Dem. primary. Be it understood that up to $30K could be spent on radio and TV ads if we decide to endorse.
Kathleen and S.B. are authorized to begin to organize, assuming that there will be an endorsement because otherwise there will not be enough time to prepare adequately to defeat Obama in CA on 2/5/08.
Jing-Li Yu seconds.
The motion was unanimously approved.
(3) S.B. Woo moves to pass
We will not endorse a GOP candidate, if none has replied with all yeses. If one and only one "first tier" GOP candidate has endorsed, we will endorse that candidate in the CA Republican primary.
Amendment: Kathleen To moves to change this motion to
We will not endorse a GOP candidate, if none has replied with all yeses. If one or more "first tier" GOP candidates have replied with all yeses, we will consider endorsing a Republican candidate in the CA GOP primary.
Jing-Li Yu seconds.
The motion was unanimously approved.
6:50PM PST Meeting adjourned.
